Manuel Peter Neuer is a German professional football goalkeeper who plays for the Germany national team.

He is thought to be one of the best goalkeepers in sports history. Neuer has been called a "sweeper-keeper"

 He was named by IFFHS to be the best goalkeeper of the decade from 2011 to 2020.

Neuer began his career at Schalke 04, where he won the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Ligapokal.

Neuer finished third in the FIFA Ballon d'Or voting in 2014, trailing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. 

He was named UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year and IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper five times.

Neuer was named Germany's number one goalkeeper for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

 Four years later, Neuer won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany, as well as the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper in the tournament. 

In the FIFA Club World Cup, Neuer faced Guangzhou Evergrande in the semi-finals[58] before facing Raja Casablanca in the final. 

Bayern faced Arsenal in the Champions League knockout round on February 9, and Neuer saved Mesut Zil's penalty in the first half.
