Former Patriots QB Tom Brady returns to Buccaneers practice after mystery absence

Tom Brady is reportedly back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and set to practice Monday after stepping away from the team due to personal reasons.

According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, Brady is back at the Buccaneers facility and is expected to participate in practice Monday. Brady hasn’t practiced with the team since Aug. 11.

While the reason for the absence has yet to be disclosed, the Buccaneers have indicated that they’ve been aware that the 45-year-old quarterback would be stepping away at some point this preseason.

Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said that Brady is “going to deal with some personal things” during his hiatus and that the decision had been made before the start of training camp.

The Buccaneers are set to close out their preseason Saturday night against the Indianapolis Colts. It’s unclear whether Brady will participate at all in the game.

The former New England Patriots quarterback returned to the Buccaneers for his third season in Tampa this offseason after a brief retirement.
