Over the past 50 years, from the beginning of the Open period to the present, there have been many great players in women’s tennis. Making a list of the best athletes from various generations, who competed against various foes and won various championships, is never simple.
I’ll list my top 10 female tennis players in history in this article. Each of these athletes was chosen because, in my opinion, they dominated the sport for protracted stretches of time and left legendary legacies that future generations will always aspire to.
Let’s now review the greatest female tennis players in history.

5. Chris Evert

With 34 appearances in Singles Grand Slam finals, Chris Evert holds the record. He managed to win 18 of them, including at least two of each major. She was ranked first at the end of each year for seven years thanks to her incredible dominance in women’s tennis. Evert also boasted a remarkable 90% career winning record in singles matches. The American, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995, engaged in extraordinary legal battles with Steffi Graf. The people who observed her even consider her an all-time tennis great. Her supremacy among the female tennis players was definitely something else.

4. Margaret Court

Without a doubt, Margaret Court is one of the greatest female tennis players of all time. She was one of only two women to win a Grand Slam in mixed doubles, which she did twice, and she was the first woman in the Open era to win the singles Grand Slam championship in 1970.

One of the first female tennis players, the Australian is credited with incorporating weights and a fitness regimen into her practice. This was the secret to her lengthy and injury-free career. You can understand why she deserves to be in the top five on this list given that she managed to win 24 Grand Slam singles tournaments, in addition to 19 doubles championships and 19 mixed doubles crowns.

3. Martina Navratilova

For her tenacity and physical prowess in women’s tennis during the 1970s and 1980s, Martina Navratilova is well recognized. She dominated women’s tennis when she was at her best and no one could match her.

Navratilova holds the record for the most career championships with 167, having won 18 singles Grand Slams during the course of her career. In total, she won 59 Grand Slam titles in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles divisions. With an astounding nine victories, Martina also holds the record for the most Wimbledon crowns. With 31 Grand Slam doubles titles and 10 Grand Slam mixed doubles trophies under her belt, she will go down in history as one of the best doubles players ever. Top 05 Female Tennis Players.

2. Steffi Graf

Steffi Graf comes in second on my list of the greatest female tennis players ever because of her record-breaking 377 weeks as the World No. 1 ranking, which is true for both male and female players. Graf amassed 22 singles Grand Slam victories throughout the course of her 17-year career, winning on all courts multiple times. She won all four major championships and the Olympic Gold Medal in 1988, making her the first player to complete what is known as the “Calendar Year Golden Slam.”

There was no one better than Steffi between the middle of the 1980s and the late 1990s. She became one of the most successful players in the history of women’s tennis by winning seven Wimbledon titles, four Australian Opens, six French Opens, and five US Opens. The Serena vs. Steffi Graf argument will go on forever, but there is no denying that both women are tennis greats, and what they have accomplished may never be matched. Top 05 Female Tennis Players.

1. Serena Williams

Nobody personifies women’s tennis better than Serena Williams, one of the sport’s strongest and most dominant players. She is without a doubt one of the best tennis players to ever set foot on a court.

Since the late 1990s, Serena has dominated the tennis world. She has won 23 singles Grand Slam championships in her brilliant career, giving her the undisputed leader in Grand Slam victories in both men’s and women’s tennis during the open period. She has also won 14 doubles Grand Slam trophies.

One of the reasons Williams is the best female tennis player of all time is the breadth of her career. Her most recent Grand Slam was the Australian Grand Slam in 2017, which she achieved over the course of 18 years beginning in 1999. Serena is actively seeking her 24th championship at the age of 40, and I have no doubt that she will succeed in doing so. Top 05 Female Tennis Players.
