Jalal said that Shakib had pledged to go cautiously and had assumed temporary leadership of the T20I team.

“Shakib will serve as the captain of the Bangladesh T20I team for the T20 World Cup, Tri-Nation series in New Zealand, and the Asia Cup. On this, the board had already decided. We talked about it [on Saturday] and gave him the charge. After the T20 World Cup, we will reconsider the T20I captaincy, stated Jalal.

Jalal stated, “We also had debate on it. Shakib’s issue with the board over backing a concern of a betting business. Shakib recognized his error. He claimed that after being informed, he abandoned the sponsorship since he had mistakenly believed it to be a news source.
