Mike McDaniel had the chance to observe his offense with Tua Tagovailoa at the helm for the first time since taking over as the Miami Dolphins’ head coach.

Tagovailoa played 13 snaps against the Las Vegas Raiders in the team’s second game after missing the whole team’s first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Crimson Tide quarterback had a 94.8 passing rating after completing six of his eight attempts for 58 yards.

They kind of came out with mismatched personnel, Mike McDaniel evaluates Tua which isn’t something you usually anticipate or train for in the preseason. Whether or if Tagovailoa plays in the third preseason game is unknown, but it could be advantageous for him to do so since Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle did not play on Saturday.

It would also significantly improve Tagovailoa’s protection to have left tackle Terron Armstead back, but it doesn’t seem like he’ll play until the games are actually on the line.
