On Friday, Manchester United announced that they had reached an agreement to acquire Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro for a reported £60 million ($70 million).

Since taking over at Old Trafford, United boss Erik ten Hag has been anxious to sign a defensive midfielder and has settled for Casemiro after failing to get Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

Embarrassing losses to Brentford and Brighton have dropped troubled United to the bottom of the Premier League, and they plan to pay an initial £50 million.

If specific conditions in the contract are met, the entire amount would increase by an additional £10 million.

Casemiro has been presented with a four-year contract with the possibility of an additional 12-month extension. The transfer is contingent on the negotiation of personal terms.

The 30-year-old midfielder joined Real from Sao Paulo in 2013 and has played a crucial role in the Spanish club’s five Champions League victories.

In a statement, Manchester United claimed that it was “delighted to announce” that it and Real Madrid had achieved a deal for the sale of Casemiro.

The transfer is contingent upon meeting the individual terms, the UK immigration requirements, and a medical.

Earlier on Friday, Ten Hag declined to address the trade during a press conference, while Real manager Carlo Ancelotti was more forthcoming when addressing the Spanish media.

“This morning, I spoke with him about it. He seeks out new opportunities, challenges, and experiences “It was Ancelotti.

Club members are aware of it. We have to respect that given everything he has done for this club and who he is as a person.

We’ll be incredibly grateful to him for what he’s done if he leaves. Within the squad, we have backups.

The “tribute and farewell” for Casemiro will be held on Monday, according to Real Madrid, and Florentino Perez, the club’s president, will attend.

One of the most transcendental players at one of the most important and prosperous eras in our history, according to the Spanish giants, who released a statement on the subject.

Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and we send our warmest wishes to him and every member of his family as they begin this new chapter.

In the Spanish capital, Casemiro competed against current United talents Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

His arrival will fill a gap left by Ten Hag’s lengthy pursuit of De Jong in the midfield.

Casemiro will undoubtedly start in central midfield instead of Scott McTominay or Fred due to his plethora of experience and success at the top level.

He probably won’t be available for United’s upcoming game at Old Trafford against archrival Liverpool on Monday.

Instead, Casemiro’s Premier League debut might occur on August 27 against Southampton.
