Kylian Mbappe has never expressed an interest in leaving Paris Saint-Germain in January, according to the club’s sporting director Luis Campos, who stepped into the swirl of rumors surrounding the star striker on Tuesday.

“I am with Kylian Mbappe every day, he has never spoken to me about leaving in January,” Campos told Canal Plus before the Champions League match against Benfica in Paris.

With two rounds remaining, a win would put PSG three points clear at the top of the group.

In the summer, the 23-year-old France striker turned down a move to Real Madrid in favor of staying in Paris, signing a lucrative contract extension with the French champions.

However, his form has been inconsistent this season.

Campos brushed aside suggestions that the player is uneasy.

After convincing Mbappe to stay, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez stated that the player was “confused” after being subjected to intense “political and economic pressure.”

“It’s not a statement from the player; it’s from the press, and having such information before a match like this is extremely dangerous. That’s why I’m here: to deny and state unequivocally that Kylian Mbappe has never discussed leaving PSG with me or the president (Nasser Al-Khelaifi).”
